Digestive Disorders
Conditions that can be addressed and improved include:
CELIAC disease is a condition that damages the lining of the small intestine and prevents it from absorbing parts of food that are important for staying healthy. The damage is due to a reaction to eating gluten, which is found in wheat, barley, rye, and possibly oats.
CROHN'S disease is a form of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). It usually affects the intestines, but may occur anywhere from the mouth to the end of the rectum (anus).
IBS Irritable bowel syndrome is a disorder that leads to abdominal pain and cramping, changes in bowel movements, and other symptoms. In IBS, the structure of the bowel is not abnormal.
GERD Gastroesophageal reflux disease is a condition in which the stomach contents (food or liquid) leak backwards from the stomach into the esophagus (the tube from the mouth to the stomach). This action can irritate the esophagus, causing heartburn and other symptoms.
Gastrointestinal/digestive health is one of the most common things that Dr. Alex works with in her practice. The importance of optimal absorption, assimilation and elimination cannot be overstated.
Far too many people are suffering from less that optimal GI health and many have accepted their compromised states as normal.
Phillips Clinic works with her patients to help them:
•Identify the cause of the dysfunction
•Eliminate the offending factors
•Understand the disease process and how to halt it
•Be educated about their options so that they can make informed choices
•Implement lifestyle changes that are sustainable
•Troubleshoot issues before they become problems
Receiving a diagnosis of GI dysfunction can be frightening and confusing.
Navigating a new way of eating can be daunting.
Trial and error is a hard road. Phillipa Clinix spends the time that it takes to guide patients through these life changing processes.
